Celebrating Over 60 Years as Northern Virginia’s Favorite Fuel and Propane Supplier
Our founder, Walter Murphy, opened the doors to Capitol Fuel in the early 1960’s to provide coal to homeowners in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. Capitol Fuel changed with the times and expanded operations, now operating as Valley Energy Company.
Three Generations of Valley Energy
Valley Energy is still family run, owned and operated by Walter’s children and grandchildren out of our facility in Purcellville, Virginia. With more than 60 years of experience in the energy industry, Valley Energy has developed strong supply relationships with major energy companies. We’re known for our safety standards and state-of-the-art service and products.
Additionally, the company is financially sound and is blessed with a loyal and professional staff.

While our main office and storage facility is located in Purcellville, Virginia, our satellite facilities in Fairfax and Stephens City allow us to extend our services to the surrounding communities of Loudoun, Clarke, Warren, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, and Prince William Counties.
In addition to Northern Virginia, Valley Energy serves Berkeley County and Jefferson County in West Virginia. Valley Energy serves Frederick and Montgomery Counties in Maryland.

How do I become a customer?
Prior to scheduling your first Valley Energy propane and Fuel delivery/service, we require all to complete a Customer Application.
Once this application has been completed, a member of the Valley Energy Team will reach out to you regarding your application’s status as well as gather any additional information.
Once approved, we’ll work with you to schedule your delivery/service and make sure everything is set up for a smooth and reliable experience.
